Served over 19 years as Senior Scientist in the country’s premier fisheries research;
Institute- viz. Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore. (W.B);
Served as Director-cum-Warden of Fisheries, in the State of  Himachal Pradesh for over 15 years;

Significant Contribution

  • Being Head of Department, instrumental in implementing 12 million NOK project funded by Royal Norwegian Government regarding

  • promotion of fisheries in the state of Himachal Pradesh
    Instrumental in establishing and maintenance 14 fish farms of the state.

  • Instrumental in achieving and sustaining highest per unit fish production in the Country from state’s open waters namely reservoirs. A fishery of the order of over Rs. 40 million has been established in the state’s reservoirs.

  • Instrumental in establishing and promoting aquaculture in the stagnant, running water and recirculatory fish units.
    A number of fisheries development and fishermen’s welfare schemes were  formulated and implemented.

·         Served as member of Committee on ‘Introduction of Exotic Species’ constituted by Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi

·         Served as Chairman of the Committee constituted by Ministry of Animal Husbandry & Dairying Government of India to suggest measure promotion and development of fisheries in Rajasthan

Present Assignments

As Advisor (Fisheries) my main responsibilities are:

·         Implementation of   200 million rupees- centrally sponsored project on setting up of modern seed raising mahseer (Tor-putitora) fish farm in the state

·         Implementation & completion of Rs. 16 million project viz. Environmental Management plan for ‘Development of fisheries in the main Satluj river & its tributaries’

·         Implementation and completion of ‘ National Hydel Power Corporation Project’ of Rs. 6.0 million viz. Strengthening of fish farm of Chamba district for development of fisheries in the area

·         Monitoring & execution of Norwegian Govt. aided 8.0 million rupees of Institutional Cooperation Project on ‘Fish Health Studies under Rainbow Trout Farming in Himachal Pradesh

  In addition to above, I am also entrusted the job of:

·         Upgradation  and strengthening of state’s fish farms so as to intensify  the seed production & sale of fish from the farms; Converting the existing fish farms in to revenue generating centres and assured supply of quality seed supply to private fish farmers

·         Formulation and clearance of new proposals, schemes, projects with an aim to develop multifaceted fisheries in the state.
